Night and Day.

As most of you know, I get style-inspired by Olivia Palermo quite often. I decided to use her look to create a more appropriate daytime look. To begin, I started with the tweed
shorts in a more neutral color and added a great silk floral-print top. From there I added the jewelry: pearl cluster earrings, a layered necklace, and two AMAZING bangles: one mix-n-match bangle and one splurge-worthy chunky stud bangle (come on, look at those beauties). I chose a platform camel strappy sandal and a light blue crocodile clutch that complimented the look without being too (what I like to call) "matchy matchy". This look is perfect for shopping with the girls or lunch with your boy.

Celebrity Inspiration: Beachwear.

Looking to revamp your beach wardrobe? Look no further than your own closet. Next time you're headed to the beach, grab an over-sized tee and throw it over your bathing suit for an undone look that is seemingly effortless yet still stylish. The girls from
The Hills have it mastered. Add some classic shades and a great pair of sandals to complete the ensemble.

Flashback.

While getting excited (yet again) after seeing a SATC2 Trailer, I began reminiscing about the original film. This Vivienne Westwood gown is absolutely breathtaking and without a doubt deserves a space on my blog. Pat Field (Sex and the City stylist) hit the nail on the head when asking herself..."What would bridal Carrie wear?" Seeing this dress again builds much anticipation for even more outlandish fashion to come in Sex and the City 2. Hurry up May 28!

Spring Break Suits.

This Spring Break is all about prints: geometric, floral, animal, you name it...the busier the better. How cute are these? They have a hint of a 70's retro vibe yet are still hip and youthful. And the Pucci under-wire top is great for those who are slightly more endowed than the rest. Don't be afraid to go print-crazy this spring break!

DVF Spring 2010 Collection.

Here are a few of my favorites from the Spring 2010 show back in September. The theme was "Queen of the Desert". Diane von Furstenberg always sticks to her guns....fun, playful prints with a mix of innovative and classic cuts. I tend to stay away from colorful prints, but these are just too irresistible! She is the master of combining several prints to make a look sheer perfection. Diane is THE queen in my eyes!

Nail It.

Time to put away your browns, blacks, & plums and get your pretty hands on Essie's Art of Spring Collection. My new favorites are Tart Deco (left) and Lilacism (right). Can't wait to paint mine Tart Deco
. This season is all about bright and girly colors so don't be afraid to paint outside the box. But for those of you who are creatures of habit, Ballet Slippers is always classic. Enjoy!

Spotlight: Tom Ford.

I doubt that there are a ton of men reading this blog, but for the sake of those who have learned to appreciate a well tailored suit like myself, this one's for you. In my opinion, nobody does a suit like Tom Ford. Through his impeccable tailoring, he can transform any man into what I like to call a "chick magnet". Many celebs have acknowledged his talent as well. Here's Brad looking handsome as ever in a Ocean's Eleven-esque Tom Ford suit.

A little bit of history: Ford was the former creative director for big name fashion houses Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent before making a name for himself. Today, he has created an empire of not only menswear, but womenswear, eyewear and accessories as well.

Spring Necessity.

Today I came to the realization that I have never owned a denim jacket! Someone please tell me how this happened?? Needless to say, it's about time I get my hands on one. It was brought to my attention recently that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have started yet another line (not that I'm complaining) for JCPenney called Olsenboye. After browsing through their Spring 2010 collection, I found this great denim jacket...the missing piece to my wardrobe. To top it off, the price fits my college student budget: $29.99! The best part of this piece (besides its price, of course) is its versatility. I envision it with a neutral flowy top, white straight leg jeans, and a sky high leather wedge. For those of you who want a more modern take on the denim jacket, take some lessons from the adorable Miranda Kerr. She pairs it with a black jumpsuit and sandals for a more contemporary look. However you plan to wear it, it is sure to be a hit!

[Back] Cover Girl.

InStyle Magazine is my 'happy pill'. Whenever I've had a rough day, nothing makes me feel more at peace than flipping through a great magazine. This may sound shallow to you, but aren't we all allowed to have our quirks? As I was flipping through the new February 2010 issue and came to the Bottega Veneta back cover, I had to stop and study it (which isn't too unusual for me). This ad is the epitome of what I like to call "serene chic". Not only does the model look fantastic just sitting in a chair by the window, but she seems at complete peace with the world. The grainy texture and lighting adds an element of organic simplicity that makes me think, "I'll have what she's having!" I almost....emphasis on almost...don't notice the amazing dress, bag, and wedge that the company is actually trying to sell. Fashion serves many purposes for those who have learned to appreciate it. For me, it sometimes is a chance to slow down and escape, even if only for a few minutes.

Style Goddess.

Confession: I have a crush on Olivia Palermo...a style crush that is. No matter where she is (in this case London), Olivia looks fantastic. I am ENAMORED with this outfit. The unexpected mixture of these textures adds a bit of shock value to the look. There's no dissecting it. It just...works. And how amazing is that jacket? The embellishment on this TOPSHOP jacket truly makes it a piece of art. Olivia is fearless when it comes to fashion and doesn't mind taking risks. And as you can see, it definitely pays off.
